Originally a working farm,
dating back to at least the 18 th Century, Locmaria has been
sensitively renovated by owners David & Nadine Mason using
the best combination of traditional and modern materials. Two
beautifully restored cottages, retaining original features
like huge beams and stone fireplaces, offer accommodation for
2/4 and 4/6 people respectively, each with its own private
outside space. Both are well furnished and fully equipped and
we also provide Barbecue, garden furniture, TV/DVD, CD player,
books and games (including Boules).
You have free rein to roam around the grounds to find quiet
spots to read, picnic or for children to play football, hide & seek,
splash in the stream or whatever else their energies extend
to. Alternately you can relax on the sun terrasse next to the
swimming pool (security alarmed) or dine al fresco at the picnic
table in the shade of a large old oak tree.
Locmaria is just under a mile outside the village of Langoelan and 5 miles from the town of Guemene-sur-Scorff - for shopping, bars and restaurants. There is a small lakeside bar in summer on the Lac du
Dordu, which is halfway between Locmaria and the village. The
lake is popular with the athletically minded for a scenic early
morning run and also has an exercise circuit and childrens
playground. The unspoilt beaches of north and south Brittany
are an hour away; watersports on the Lac de Guerledan and on
the Nantes-Brest Canal; walking, cycling, fishing, canoeing
and horse riding in the Scorff valley and plenty of other local
spots. There are many beautiful historical towns
and working museums to visit within easy driving distance from
Locmaria and plenty of great food and drink to enjoy.
Once a year Locmaria also offers you a unique opportunity to
enjoy a slice of real Breton life and be part of the local community
for the day. Join us on the first Sunday in September for the annual 'Pardon
de Locmaria' (a bit like a village fête but with over 200
people sitting down to eat and drink together).
